♦ Early life and Education
Her mother, Doria Ragland, has a master’s degree in social work from the University of Southern California and works as a psychotherapist and yoga instructor. Her father, Thomas W. Markle, who lives in Mexico, is an Emmy Award-winning lighting director whose profession resulted in his young daughter often visiting the set of Married… with Children. Meghan is of Dutch, English, and Irish descent through her father. Her parents divorced in 1988 when she was six years old. Meghan’s two older paternal half siblings are Thomas Markle Jr and Samantha Grant.
Meghan grew up in the Hollywood area of Los Angeles. At age 11, she was profiled by Linda Ellerbee on Nick News concerning Markle’s successful campaign to get a company to change a national television commercial she viewed as sexist. She graduated in 2003 from Northwestern University, near Chicago, where she earned a bachelor’s degree with a double major in theater and international studies; coursework included an internship at the US embassy in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where she learned to speak Spanish. She also studied French for six years.
Meghan started working for the US Embassy Buenos Aires, after graduating from college. She also worked as a freelance calligrapher.
As an actress, she is remembered for her act in General Hospital and Love Inc. She has also given a great act as Charlotte in Castle series. Later she also appeared in some of the television episodes of Century City, Love, Inc., The War at Home, 90210, Knight Rider, The Apostles, CSI: NY, The League and Castle. From July 2011, Meghan has played Rachel Zane on the USA Network show Suits, which is filmed in Toronto, Ontario. The character began as a paralegal who eventually became an attorney. In 2016, Meghan became a global ambassador for World Vision Canada, traveling to Rwanda for the Clean Water Campaign, the agency’s campaign to provide safe, clean drinking water and she traveled to India to raise awareness of issues concerning women. She has also worked with the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women as an Advocate. She was a counsellor for international charity One Young World, speaking at the 2014 annual summit in Dublin on the topics of gender equality and modern-day slavery. She also attended the 2016 One Young World summit in Ottawa.

From 2014 to 2017, Meghan was founder and editor-in-chief of lifestyle website “The Tig”. In November 2016, Meghan and Canadian clothing company “Reitmans” released a line of women’s fashion workwear.
♦ Private life
Markle began a relationship with actor and producer Trevor Engelson in 2004. They married in Jamaica, on September 10, 2011, and divorced in August 2013.
On November 27, 2017, it was announced that Markle and Prince Harry were engaged. During a September 2017 interview with Vanity Fair, Meghan spoke in public for the first time about her love for Prince Harry, saying, “We’re two people who are really happy and in love. We were very quietly dating for about six months before it became news, and I was working during that whole time, and the only thing that changed was people’s perception.”
In preparation for the wedding, the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, baptised Meghan and confirmed her into the Church of England on March 6, 2018. The marriage ceremony took place on May 19, 2018, at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle. After the wedding, the couple will live at Nottingham Cottage in London, on the grounds of Kensington Palace.
